19 April 2009 - 8:24Maiwand Teaching Hospital, formerly known as 'Mastoorat Hospital' has a history worth of a century old. Maiwand is an internship-based hospital which pertains to the Kabul Medical University.
In the internship phase of students' careers, it provides them with a program wherein medical professionals train them to be tomorrow's doctors.
Thus, each ward is filled with up to 70 - 80 novices practicing medical field.
There are currently eleven wards available to the hospital, all of which are occupied by students working in laboratories, pharmaceutical and x-ray based trainings.
Everyday there are over 700- 800 deprived patients being diagnosed and treated at Maiwand without charge.
